1.  Who is Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Queen?  Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Queen symbolizes the youth of our nation who wish to further promote the sport of rodeo, and in doing so, promote the great western way of life and is the ideal western type American Girl.  She is the girl who will represent Rodeo as she travels the Four States Area.

2.  What does it mean to be Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Queen?  While spreading good will for her community, Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Queen is garnering the richest experience of her life and laying a solid foundation for her future. 

3.  What type of girl does the Four States Fair Rodeo Queen competition attract?

      A.  The girl who wishes to be a leader in her community and further promote the western way of life on a local basis.

      B.  The girl who loves horses and everything the represent, and who wants to show the rest of our great nation what   

            can be accomplished when surrounded by this environment.

      C.  The girl who wants to act as an office representative of Rodeo to the general public, portraying unexcelled     

            sportsmanship, high moral and ethical character, and reflecting careful and humane treatment of animals.  She 

            should understand the sport of rodeo in its entirety, enough to be able to explain and “sell” rodeo to anyone with

            whom she may come in contact with who might know nothing of the sport of Rodeo; to be able to speak    

            intelligently with dignity, and sincere interest in Rodeo.  She should realize that the Miss Four States Fair Rodeo 

            Queen Pageant is not a “Beauty” Pageant, however, she should desire to act, speak, and dress according to the 

            prestige the title deserves.

 

 

CONTEST ELIGIBILITY

ALL CONTESTANTS MUST LIVE WITHIN A 75 MILE RADIUS OF TEXARKANA

 

RULE 1.  Each contestant must not be less than 16 or more than 24 years of age as of January 1, of the year of competition – shall never have been married, shall wavier liability, shall not have been a previous Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Queen.

RULE 2.  Each contestant MUST APPEAR on horseback for the Four States Fair Parade at 9:45AM on Saturday, September 15.  She will be notified as to where she is to meet with the other contestants in Texarkana .

RULE 3.  You will be required to give a list of your attire to be modeled at the Style Show to Melanie Payne at the Coke Party on Wednesday, September 19.  No changes after this time.  If it is not turned in at 7:30PM Wednesday night there will be 10 points deducted from the total score. 

RULE 4.  For each appearance the contestant must be dressed in western attire and ride a western type horse with western riggin.  Dress for the introduction at the rodeo and Saturday luncheon will be what is considered western attire.  For horsemanship, candidates will be asked to wear jeans and a fitted long sleeved western blouse.  Blouse must be tucked in and no chaps will be permitted for horsemanship judging the day of  the riding event.  No gloves.

RULE 5.  Contestants must have current health papers and a negative coggins test on the horse.

RULE 6.  Stallions are not permitted.

RULE 7.  A contestant must agree to abide by all Pageant rules – with the possibility of disqualification for infractions.

RULE 8.  Should the circumstances ever occur that a contestant is conducting herself in an improper manner and/or way of life – she will be disqualified from her competition or her title taken away, whichever the case may be.  If the contestant has been pregnant, is pregnant, or becomes pregnant during her reign she will forfeit her crown and all benefits derived from the Pageant. 

RULE 9.  The committee feels that it is the duty and obligation of anyone in a competition of the Status – to portray the highest moral standards, show the true ideals of young womanhood, an example above reproach.

RULE 10.  The winner of the Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Pageant agrees not to marry during the year of her reign.  If she should marry, the title will go to the next runner-up. 

RULE 11.  Candidates will be introduced individually at the Rodeo each night.  Rodeo dates are September 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2008.  Candidates must ride in the Rodeo each night.

RULE 12.  The entry deadline is September 5, 2008.  No late entries will be accepted.  You must furnish TWO (2) 5X7 black and white or color photos in western attire.  These photos must be turned in with your entry and they will not be returned.
