OPEN BEEF CATTLE EXHIBIT RULES
(See Exhibitors General Rules & Regulations – There may also be breed specific show rules!) Time is short between entry and the show – we appreciate your following the rules by completing the online entry information to help us be better prepared for the show.
RULE 1. ENTRY DEADLINE:
Open Beef Cattle entries will close AUGUST 20, 2021. ALL entries MUST be made AND paid online at ONLINE ENTRIES (fourstatesfair.com). You MUST bring your computer receipt with the QR code to check-in. In all cases, the Four States Fair management, staff, and directors reserve the right to accept or reject an application for entry.
RULE 2.ANIMAL ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for competition, animals must be registered with their respective breed associations. Registry certificates of ownership checked. NO PENDING REGISTRATIONS.
RULE 3.ENTRY FEES/FORMS:
The exhibitor must complete all information on online entry and an entry fee of $30 per head must be paid online at the time of entry. The exhibitor and animal information must be complete. Late entries will NOT be accepted. Substitutions will be accepted at $15 per head through check-in. ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. NO TIE OUTS! NO GENERATORS IN BARN.
RULE 4. JUNIOR & OPEN ENTRIES:
Stall assignments are made according to entries received by August 20th for the Junior shows. Open Show Cattle entries are not allowed in the stall spaces during the Junior Cattle Show. Junior Cattle entered in the Open Beef Cattle Show may stay in same stalls. Open show cattle will NOT have stall assignments but will be allowed to stall in Barn 1 (original livestock barn) or in available space in Barn 2 (newer).
We work hard to accommodate each stalling request, if an animal is NOT entered in the Open Show, may have to leave the barn – there may not be space for them during the Open Show. Please respect stall assignments for each show. We work very hard to accommodate your entries and requests, but space is limited.
RULE 5. HEALTH CERTIFICATES:
All animals will be required to have a current health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian that conforms to the requirements of the Arkansas Animal Health Commission. All females 20 months or older must be accompanied by a certificate of pregnancy from a licensed veterinarian, have produced fertile eggs, as certified in a written statement by a licensed veterinarian or embryologist, or have a calf at her side. Health papers will be checked at the Livestock Gate (South Gate) upon arrival.
RULE 6.ARRIVAL & RELEASE:
All entries in the Open Beef Cattle Division must be in place in the barn by 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 12th. Animals will be released at time designated by show committee Monday September 13th. Any other times must be approved by the show coordinator or livestock director or exhibitor will forfeit all premiums. Animals not checked-in by 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 12th will be scratched.
RULE 7. Exhibitor must be able to have full control of animal or risk disqualification. All bulls twelve (12) months and older MUST be shown with a nose ring or clip with a lead rope.

RULE 9.FORFEITURE OF PREMIUMS:
Any violation of these rules will cost a forfeiture of all premiums earned by the Exhibitor.
RULE 10.ALL PROTESTS
A protest shall be made to the Livestock Director in WRITING and immediately following the conclusion of judging of said breed. Such protests MUST state plainly the cause of the complaint and be accompanied by $100 deposit. IF the complaint is found in your favor, your deposit will be returned. Judging procedures will not be interrupted for protest investigation. Decisions of the Livestock Show Committee are final, pending a complete investigation.
RULE 11: SHAVINGS
Shavings will be available for a fee. Stall area MUST be cleaned before release. All hay and manure must be disposed of in the dumpsters at the front and rear of the barn. Please place manure/bedding as far to the front of the dumpster as possible. DO NOT put manure/bedding into the trash cans – they are for paper waste only. NO SMOKING IN THE LIVESTOCK BARN BY ORDER OF THE TEXARKANA FIRE MARSHALL.
RULE 11. BREEDS
In all registered breeds there must be 5 or more heifers to constitute a breed. When less than 5 heifers are entered, they will show in Other Registered Breeds or American Registered Breeds. When 5 or more heifers of a breed not listed below are entered, that breed section will be added – be sure to enter a breed NOT ORB or ARB. No pending registrations.
Breed breakdown may be changed or modified at the discretion of the Four States Fair Staff and Show Committee.
Beefmaster, Braford, Brangus (American & International will show together), Gray Brahman, Red Brahman, Red Brangus (American & International will show together), Santa Gertrudis Simbrah
Angus, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Red Angus, Shorthorn
If less than 5 entries of either – Angus & Red Angus will be combined
If less than 5 entries of either – Hereford & Polled Hereford will be combined
Charolais, Chianina, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Simmental
Please note the classes may be added or modified at the discretion of the FSF Staff or Show Committee.

CLASS 03 - Winter heifers born between November 1 and December 31, 2020
CLASS 04 - Senior heifers born between September 1 and October 31, 2020
CLASS 05 - Late Summer Yearling heifers born between July 1 and AUGUST 29, 2020
CLASS 06 - Early Summer Yearling heifers born between May 1 and June 30, 2020
CLASS 07 - Late Junior Yearling heifers born between March 1 and April 30, 2020
CLASS 08 - Early Junior Yearling heifers born between January 1 and February 29, 2020
CLASS 09 - Senior Yearling heifers born between September 1 and December 31, 2019
CLASS 10 – Cow/Calf / Bred Heifer 3/1/2018 to 8/31/2019
